Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are being pitted against each other, but a body language expert said that there were a few times when the Duchesses were actually friends.

Judi James looked at the photos of Middleton and Markle last year and said that the two women didn’t fake their relationship in public. For instance, when they attended the Royal Foundation Forum in February, Markle integrated well with her body language, and she mirrored Middleton on stage.

James said that Middleton might have not been pleased with the fact that Markle tried to change the established group formation between Prince William, Prince Harry, and Middleton that’s why they never really became close friends.

The expert also said that the changes in Middleton became evident throughout the year because she wanted to differentiate herself from Prince Harry’s wife.

“Kate has made some rather telling changes since Meghan arrived, one being her new styling of a chic 40s or 50s look. This does seem to suggest a desire to assert her own individual and traditionalist style that has echoes of the Queen’s look at her age,” James told Express.

“And it’s in contrast to the slightly less formal and more contemporary looks worn by the Duchess of Sussex. I believe it in some way sets out her stall as a traditionalist to Meghan’s more campaigning profile.”

Throughout the past couple of weeks, multiple reports claimed that Middleton and Markle were at odds with each other. Some sources have also accused the Duchess of Sussex of being too demanding. But Kensington Palace just issued a rare statement in an attempt to shut down the rumors.

The palace’s statement came after it was reported that Middleton got upset at Markle over the way she spoke to the Duchess of Cambridge’s staff. But an insider said that there is no truth to this claim.

Kensington Palace doesn’t normally respond to personal issues, but it did so after it was also reported that Middleton broke down in tears following another heated encounter with the “Suits” alum, according to People.
