  • Some defended Middleton, citing the palace's alleged no-comment policy

Meghan Markle set the record straight on the reports that she made Kate Middleton cry during her and Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Markle and Prince Harry made several bombshell revelations during the CBS special that aired Sunday, one of which was that it was actually Middleton who brought the Duchess of Sussex to tears in the run-up of her 2018 royal wedding. While Markle confirmed that their tiff was over flower girl dresses, she said the Duchess of Cambridge "really hurt my feelings."

However, viewers and fans were disappointed to hear that Middleton did not step up to defend Markle and deny the false reports that later popped up claiming Prince Harry’s wife made her cry.

"Kate knew the truth and let the media vilify Meghan. Titles mean nothing when your character is in question," The Grio tweeted.

"so basically kate made meghan cry and then she leaked it to the british press and pretended like the reverse happened......WHAT A NASTY WOMAN," another Twitter user wrote.

"I'm not bothered that Kate made Meghan cry. Weddings are stressful people get short. What I think is DISGRACEFUL is that KATE knew the media was lying on Meghan and she did NOTHING to defend her or support her, let ALONE tell the truth," a third user added.

"That is unforgivable of Kate and the royal family to let Meghan be vilified for 3 years over something that she didn't do. And Meghan was pregnant when the lies came out. And the palace is NOW lying on Meghan again while she's pregnant. The royals are evil. #OprahMeghanHarry," another wrote.

Others came to Middleton's defense, claiming there was no way to tell if Prince Harry and Markle were telling the truth. Further, some pointed out that it was unlikely for Prince William's wife to speak out as Middleton has always kept mum about reports about her and the royal family.

"So you guys bashing Kate...wow and calling everyone a hypocrite...wow. Kate suffered too and because she is the Mother of a future King she can't run away to LA and have tea with Oprah," one tweeted.

"She was bullying Kate on TV knowing Kate cant defend herself. You all re hypocrite," another commented on Serena Williams' post defending Markle following the interview.

"The Royal family have a strict no comment policy. Its s--t but that's how they roll. Kate won't even be able to defend herself here. It's no comment. But Megan's treatment by press has been appalling. Royals would just say no comment, they haven't comment on Andrew either," @cmcclure91 wrote.

During her chat with Winfrey, Markle explained that Middleton had apologized to her and sent her flowers and a note. She said she has already forgiven Middleton and insisted that the Duchess of Cambridge is "a good person."
