Kate Middleton had a “telling outing” with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles before her engagement with Prince William.

In Marcia Moody’s 2013 book, “Kate: A Biography,” she revisited the moment that signaled Middleton’s acceptance into the royal family. She noted how Middleton was “moving slowly and carefully into the royal life.”

In 2016, Middleton attended the Cheltenham Gold Cup with a friend. However, she was then invited to the royal box for lunch with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall. Moody said that this moment was “telling because William wasn’t there and so she was clearly being accepted as one of the family.”

“Additionally, it was the first time she had been seen in public with Charles and Camilla in a formal setting,” Moody continued. “She later watched the races with Camilla’s children Tom and Laura Parker Bowles and William’s best friend Thomas van Straubenzee.”

Unfortunately, things weren’t the same the following year. Middleton attended the same event after a year with Prince William, but the couple reportedly looked “unhappy.” According to Moody, they were not spending any time together and had started to face problems in their relationship as the rot set in.

The Duchess of Cambridge was reportedly not pleased about Prince William spending less time with her and more time with the rest of his friends at the barracks going out and drinking. Middleton felt that her boyfriend was being disrespectful and she was fed up.

Moody added that Prince William didn’t hide his feelings about being unsure of their future together. The couple eventually separated.

But Middleton and Prince William later got back together when the duchess attended a party to celebrate the end of his training. A month later, they were seen at Princess Diana’s 10th death anniversary memorial concert. That was reportedly the time Prince William and Middleton realized they wanted to be together forever.

Prince William and Middleton addressed their split during their engagement interview. The second-in-line to the throne admitted that they were still too young at the time and were still figuring out what they wanted in life.

Middleton and Prince William are now happily married. They were spotted packing PDA as they left Kensington Palace to visit Blackpool earlier this week.
