Kathy Griffin took to Instagram on Wednesday to share an important health update after undergoing surgery for lung cancer.

"To be honest, this cancer surgery was a little more than I had anticipated," she admitted in the caption. "Tonight will be my first night without any narcotic pain killers."

The 60-year-old comedian also recalled the time when she tried to end her life by overdosing herself with the pills doctor prescribed.

"Hello Tylenol, my new best friend!" Griffin further wrote. "The last time I was in the hospital was in June 2020 when I tried to take my life and overdosed on prescription pills."

"With over a year clean and drug-free, I now know I can do this and anything I want without those devil pills," she concluded in her post. "Y'know what? I fear drugs and addiction more than I fear cancer. So, I think I'll be OK."

Several fans took to the comments section to share their reactions to her post.

One of the fans noted they weren’t aware of the fact that the comedian wanted to take her life.

"I didn’t know you tried to take your life. My heart is breaking that you felt such pain. I’m so glad you are still here," the person wrote.

Another fan commented, "Kathy if it helps with the pain and these tough early post-surgery days, know that there are so many of your fans pulling for you. We want you to pull through and be back at it. You have an army of supporters beside you!!"

Griffin had revealed Monday via Instagram that she had cancer and was about to go into surgery to remove half of her left lung. "Yes, I have lung cancer even though I've never smoked!" she said in a post. "The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung."

The comedian further noted that this might be her last "chemo or radiation" and hoped she would normally function with her breathing after the session.

"It's been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh and entertaining you, but I'm gonna be just fine," she added in her post.

On the work front, the comedian has been regularly lending her voice to "Crank Yankers" since 2003. She was last featured in a Netflix TV series, "You," in 2019.
