Singer Katy Perry has shared some advice for "American Idol" contestants Morgan Gruber and Jay Copeland, who impressed the judges with their rendition of "Shallow" during the Hollywood Week.

Following the performance, Perry told the duo that they were "phenomenally talented," but the judges "need more" from them. While the contestants were thinking they were going to fail this round, Perry informed them they needed to find their "next level" in the next round.

"You need to find that next level on the next round," Perry said.

The music track "Shallow" was originally performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in the 2018 musical "A Star Is Born."

Here’s the entire performance alongside the judges’ comments:

Gruber took to Twitter on Sunday evening to share a photo of their performance and captioned it, "I made it through the #Duets round of #HollywoodWeek! Tune in tomorrow night to see if I made it to the Top 24 of @AmericanIdol! #Top24."

Besides Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan also serve as judges on the show. Perry has been judging the show since 2009. "American Idol" airs every Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. ET on the ABC network.

The 37-year-old singer made headlines on the show last week when she faced a wardrobe malfunction. In fact, Perry shared her own wardrobe malfunction on Twitter, where her red skin-tight pants got ripped off, following which it was fixed with yellow duct tape.

In the 17 seconds clip, Perry bent down while performing a music track and suddenly realized that her skin-tight pants got ripped off. "Can I get some tape? Some gaffer tape?" Perry asked the production crew in the video.

Apart from judging "American Idol," Perry dropped her music video, "When I'm Gone," in January. The music video was helmed by director Hannah Lux Davis and it also featured Swedish DJ Alesso and actress Patience Aquart.

Perry was also featured in a short video, "Transmissions from the Future," which was dropped in June last year featuring her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom.

On the personal front, Bloom and Perry started dating in January 2016. However, after going separate ways for a while in March 2017, they got back together in February 2018, and welcomed a baby girl, Daisy Dove, in August 2020.
