Kobe Bryant’s death came just months before the Los Angeles Lakers’ legend will be eligible for the NBA Hall of Fame. Bryant is certain to be part of the 2020 class as a first-ballot selection.

Bryant had a unique career that makes him arguably one of the 10 greatest basketball players in history. The shooting guard is among the all-time leaders in several statistical categories and owns many Lakers’ records.

Here are a few stats that highlight Bryant’s Hall of Fame career.

5 Championships

Bryant was Shaquille O’Neal’s co-star when the Lakers won three titles from 2000-2002, marking the NBA’s last three-peat. He brought two more championships to Los Angeles in 2009 and 2010, winning the NBA Finals MVP award both times. Bryant won five rings and made seven NBA Finals appearances as either the best or second-best player on his team, a feat that few players in league history have accomplished.

18-Time All-Star

In his 20 NBA seasons, Bryant only failed to make the All-Star team twice, putting him just behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and his record 19 selections. He was the All-Star Game MVP four times and the 2008 regular-season MVP. Bryant was an 11-time All-NBA First Team selection. With two appearances on both the Second Team and Third Team, Bryant is tied with LeBron James for a record 15 All-NBA selections. Bryant’s nine All-Defensive First Team selections are tied with Tim Duncan for the most ever.

33,643 Points

Hours before Bryant’s death, James passed the Laker great for third all-time on the NBA scoring list. Bryant led the NBA in total points four times and points per game twice. Only Wilt Chamberlain, James Harden and Rick Barry have averaged more than the 35.4 points per game that Bryant put up in the 2005-2006 season. His career average of 25.0 points per game ranks 12th all-time. Bryant scored at least 60 points six times, including his iconic 81-point performance on Jan. 22, 2006 and a 60-point game in the last contest of his career.
