Kyrie Irving may overtake Kevin Durant as the Brooklyn Nets superstar because of his handles, according to league sources.

The Brooklyn Nets are bound to sign two of the best players in the league, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. As early as now, league experts have made their predictions as to who will be the team’s superstar.

It has become clearer and clearer that the Nets will become a major contender next season but associated with all the good and exciting news about the team are some questions that got the experts arguing.

Among the topics discussed is Irving’s past issues with regards to maturity and decision-making. In a recent episode of ESPN’s "First Take," Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith discussed the potential problems the Nets could be facing with the All-Star point guard.

Kellerman said that Irving is going to “kill it” in Brooklyn but ended his statement by saying that he is not confident at this point that Brooklyn will not have any problems with Irving due to the fact that the former NBA champ has not been actively speaking to the media lately.

But Smith has a different opinion, saying that he is confident that Irving will not cause any problems for Brooklyn as this is the first time the superstar has made a decision for himself. “I’m confident. I’m not worried about Kyrie one bit, because this is the first time Kyrie had a choice, it’s his decision,” Smith said.

“He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, he had to force his way out but he didn’t pick Boston,” Smith added.

At some point during the discussion, Kellerman clarified that based on how he sees the Nets, Irving will be the star of the team instead of KD. He also pointed out that Kyrie, being the player who has the best handles in the league today, is perfect for Brooklyn as it is known for “streetball,” the type of basketball which Kyrie is famous for.

As for Durant, Kellerman said that Brooklyn would have to wait for how KD will respond and recover after rehab, but no player has ever come back to his best form after an Achilles injury. This apparently fuels the assumption that Irving will be the face of the Brooklyn franchise and not KD.

According to The New York Times, regardless of who is going to be the star of the team, collectively, the Irving-Durant pair has started to move the spotlight from the Madison Square Garden to Barclay’s Center.
