  • Martinez may not get starting role at Barca
  • Several personalities say Martinez would best stay with Inter
  • Cavanhi interest may be in preparation of Alexis Sanchez departure

Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan has been mentioned on several occasions as someone who could be on the way out to join FC Barcelona. But for that to go down, Barca needs to find a way to raise funds to take him in. Like most teams, the Catalan Giants are feeling the financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic. One person who believes that will be a huge factor is ex-Nerazzurri striker Ivan Zamorano.

Martinez has become a hot target with Real Madrid also looking to try and pluck him from I Nerazzurri. The 22-year-old has had a great season, scoring 18 goals in 33 appearances before football action was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But for Zamorano, he sees Martinez staying at San Siro with Barca facing budget constraints, MisionTUDN reported.

"Barcelona has economic problems that don't allow them to sign Lautaro, so in my opinion, he'll stay, I have no doubt," Zamorano said.

This is despite alleged plans of Inter to take in Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain. In a previous post, it was mentioned how this could be a safety precaution for Antonio Conte if Martinez does exit and join another team. But Zamorano sees it differently. He believes a potential Cavani coming has nothing to do with Martinez possibly playing elsewhere.

Instead, he sees the addition of Cavani as possibly someone who could serve as an alternative to starters. Alexis Sanchez, another player rumored to be on the way out and return to Manchester United. Zamorano feels that Cavani can fill in the void if ever that goes down.

"I guarantee that Lautaro is the future of Inter," Zamorano said. "Barcelona must put €100 million on the table, which is the least that Inter has asked for Lautaro."

Zamorano becomes another person who feels Martinez should stay at San Siro. Previously, it was former AC Milan and Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello who says that the Mexican should stay with Inter. But his point of view is not about finance but playing time. He feels that Martinez may not be a starter if he goes to Barca, especially with Luis Suarez still around, El Larguero reported.

"Going to Barcelona and becoming a starter with Luis Suarez there is difficult. I think it is better to be a starter at Inter than a substitute at Barcelona," Capello said.
