Lady Gaga has always been one of the few celebrities who have been quite vocal about mental health. The acclaimed musician has opened up about her struggles with fibromyalgia and the darkest period of her life when she was young.

While speaking with talk-show host Oprah Winfrey at an event, the 33-year-old artist revealed how she discovered that she had post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after being sexually assaulted “repeatedly” at the age of 19.

When asked about her life as a young female and going through a lot because of her troubled past, the “Poker Face” hitmaker noted she faced a heinous crime like sexual harassment at such a young and developed PTSD because of all the things that happened to her.

“I was raped repeatedly when I was 19 years old, and I also developed PTSD as a result of being raped and also not processing the trauma,” Gaga said.

The “Bad Romance” singer also expressed her gratitude towards Oprah for helping her throughout her life and making her heal when she thought she could not be healed.

“Thank you so much for being a part of healing me and my life,” Gaga said.

Later in the discussion, Gaga explained the help she received when she went to a doctor and got to know that “fibromyalgia” is curable through therapy. She also told the audience present at the event that mental health should never be ignored.

“I’ve found through neuropsych research and my relationship with my doctors that fibromyalgia can be treated through mental health therapy. And mental health is a medical condition, it should be treated as a medical condition. It should not be ignored,” Gaga said.

The singer also opened up about the act she and Bradley Cooper did to make everyone believe that they were in a relationship. She candidly told Oprah that the duo laughed so much at the reactions and believed that they did an incredible job to fool everyone.

As soon as she said that particular sentence, Oprah looked at the audience and told them that it would not have worked if people did not believe they were not in “love.”

In related news, Gaga was recently named one of the highest-earning musicians of the 2010s. The “Shallow” hitmaker, even after taking some pauses in her music career, earned $500 million in the previous decade.
