A new poll shows Republicans losing support among Latino voters, giving up much of the gains they had made in the 2024 election cycle.

Axios obtained a Hart Research/TelevisaUnivision poll which showed that Latino voters were swinging hard back toward Democrats and away from Republicans.

The poll found that in 17 competitive House district races, Latinos were favoring Democrats by a 23-point margin - 58 percent to 35 percent.

If the figure translates to the polls in the miderms, that would represent a massive swing back to the Democrats after President Trump did relatively well with Latino voters in 2024. Although the demographic favored Kamala Harris, they did so by 11 percentage points, compared to broader margins in the past.

"Latino voters aren't locked into one party. They're paying close attention and making decisions based on who shows up for them, and how they're showing up,"TelevisaUnivision Senior Vice President Kate Coleman told the outlet.

About 63 percent of Latinos in those competitive House districts disapprove of President Trump's job performance. A majority also disapprove of Trump's handling of economic issues (65 percent) and immigration (62 percent).

The numbers align with other polls that have found Latinos increasingly unhappy with the President and his policies.

In June, a Fox News poll had only 31 percent of Latinos approving of Trump's job performance, with 69 percent disapproving. That represented a substantial shift from March 2025, when a Fox News poll showed 44 percent of Latinos approving of Trump and only 55 percent disapproving.

A UnidosUS poll in May found that Latinos were discontented and motivated to vote in the November midterm elections, with 76 percent saying they intended to vote in the midterms.

About 68 percent of respondents said the country was headed in the wrong direction, while two-thirds said that President Trump and congressional Republicans weren't focused enough on improving the economy. Also, only 25 percent of Latinos who voted for Trump in 2024 said they'd do so again.
