  • A new claim recently surfaced online speculating on the setting of the next "Assassin's Creed" game
  • Based on a couple of concept art images, the future "Assassin's Creed" game could be set in China

A couple of concept art drawings allegedly designed for a future “Assassin’s Creed” title that could be set in China was recently spotted by a fan. Following Ubisoft’s recent announcement of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” some fans suggest that a feudal japan setting or a return to China location could be great. If the latest leak is to go by, it seems that the franchise may once again visit China sooner than anticipated.

New “Assassin’s Creed” Game Set In China?

An eagle-eyed “Assassin’s Creed” fan shared on Reddit an interesting set of images that are allegedly 2017 concept art posted by artist John Bigorgne’s ArtStation account to Ubisoft Montreal’s account. Reddit user Nstav13 speculated that these concept arts could be hinting the location of the future “Assassin’s Creed” game. It could be set in China at the time of Mongol Invasions, the Reddit user noted.

Additionally, the leaker claimed that the “Assassin’s Creed” game set in China might be released in 2022. Ubisoft recycles many of its assets across the “Assassin’s Creed” franchise, the Reddit user explained. He also toyed with the possibility that the gaming studio might reuse the assets of “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.”

Why “Assassin’s Creed” Set in China?

The game developer could also choose Mongolia and China as locations when it goes back to the drawing board next year, he added. The Mongols would enable the game to build on the current lore and settings, the Reddit user said. According to him, the Mongol invasions could link to “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” considering that the Mongols were the reason for the destruction of a Viking federation.

In the previous game, the “Assassin’s Creed” mainstay Altair worked to kill Genghis Khan, stressing the rumored title's potential connection to the upcoming “AD” game. While the tipster’s post is interesting, his claims are speculative and unofficial. Take this information with a good measure of salt.

Meanwhile, the much-awaited game “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” is arriving on November 17, 2020. The game will be released on current generation gaming consoles’ PS4 and Xbox Series X. It would also be available on PC and Google Stadia.
