Everyone is already looking forward to the launch of the Huawei Mate 20, but it looks like Huawei will also be announcing a new smartwatch alongside its latest flagship Android phone. A new leak has revealed that the company will launch the brand new Huawei Watch GT later this month.

The Huawei Watch GT was first discovered by the german website WinFuture. The upcoming smartwatch is said to arrive in two variants: Classic and Fashion. A third version of the device is also expected to arrive and it will be called the Watch GT Sport. The Sport model is said to have different colors for its bezel and its band.

The Huawei Watch GT Classic and Fashion will both have some of the same design elements of the Huawei Watch 2, which launched back in June. However, the Watch GT models will have larger 1.39-inch circular OLED displays. It will also have the same side-mounted buttons that are found on the Huawei Watch 2, but it won’t have a rotating crown.

There’s currently no information yet on what new features are available on the Huawei Watch GT, but it’s being speculated that it might have a heart-rate monitor, GPS and NFC. The upcoming smartwatch is also said to be swimproof and will be powered by a 420mAh battery, according to 9To5Google.

The biggest feature that’s said to be on the Huawei Watch GT will be its battery life. The smartwatch will allegedly be able to offer up to 14 days of battery life on a single charge. It’s being speculated that Huawei was able to do this by using the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset, which was just announced last month. It’s also being rumored that Huawei will include a new power-saving mode that would extend the device’s battery life significantly. The mode would allegedly restrict some of the watch’s features in order to be more power efficient and therefore extend its battery life.

On the software side of things, the Huawei Watch GT is believed to be running the latest version of Google’s Wear OS. The operating system recently received a major update which includes improvements to the user interface and better Google Assistant integration.

The Huawei Watch GT is said to arrive with a very competitive price with WinFuture claiming that it will only cost €190-229, which would be a lot cheaper than most flagship smartwatches. The new smartwatch is said to launch on Oct. 16, the same day when the Mate 20 is expected to be officially announced.
