Lindsay Lohan will not celebrate New Year's 2012 in Dubai.

Or so says Lohan's rep Steve Honig. He was responding to a report that Lohan will ring in the New Year at a big party in Dubai. That report came from an overseas party planning company, according to media reports. But sources said Lohan was most upset that her name was being used to promote a big New Year's eve bash on the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ship in Dubai, according to antimusic.com.

We're told Lindsay's legal team is pounding out a cease and desist letter -- claiming she's prepared to sue the pants off the party people if they continue to lie about Lohan's NYE plans, the Web site reported.

Lohan's rep Honig concurred that Lohan will not be in Dubai, according to TMZ: Lindsay is not going to Dubai, nor had she ever considered doing so. She will be spending New Year's Eve in Los Angeles with a few close friends and family.

Lohan has struggled in recent years with arrests and rumors of reports of drug abuse, yet she stormed back into the public eye in a different way this month with a nude Playboy spread.
