A thief who broke into an Iowa lingerie store and used some its merchandise was apprehended by police thanks to a tattoo identifying his last name.

According to The Smoking Gun, Danvenport police arrested 24-year-old Jose Angel Perales for burglary and theft charges after being tipped off by the tattoo on his back baring his last name

On Feb. 17, Perales broke into Dr. John's Lingerie Boutique at around 4 a.m. though an unlocked door and, according to police, “walked around the store and shopped.”

Then, 325-pound Perales took off all of his clothes and walked into the manager’s office, where he opened some of the store’s merchandise and “began to please himself anally on the manager’s desk and futon/couch.” He spent the rest of his stint trying on clothes and took the time to “experiment with sex toys for approximately two hours.”
However, Perales was busted through store surveillance footage and a tattoo baring his last name on his back. Police said he “walked out of the office naked showing the large tattoo on his back. The tattoo read ‘PERALES’ in Old English lettering.”

Perales reportedly left the store “wearing a dress and blond wig belonging to the business” along with a bag “containing various items belonging to the business.” Authorities found “used and/or” taken items at his home worth between $1,000 and $2,000. Police said the items “could not be resold and were thrown away as they had bodily fluid on them.”

Jose Angel Perales was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree theft.
