A prolific striker joins Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the list of most notable Champions League players of the decade.

For almost a decade now, Ronaldo and Messi have been both consistent in displaying their superb talents. But in the Champions League, Robert Lewandoski has proven that his also deserves to be alongside the two biggest names in soccer, The Sportsman reported.

In the European stage, Lewandowski has quite established his name as an ultimate goal scorer. Many even believe that the Bayem striker could have earned more recognition in the said league if it weren’t for Messi and Ronaldo. The said claim isn’t that hard to believe as Lewandowski already has 10 goals across his name just for this season alone. With his consistent Scoring with both Dortmund and Bayern Munich, Lewandowski proved that he truly deserved the titles he has won at the Allianz Arena.

As expected, Ronaldo has always been linked to Messi in almost all categories and leagues. For the past 10 years, “CR7” has competed with the bests and has shown a tremendous amount of hardwork and desire inside the field. The Portuguese star carried Real Madrid to European Cup glory and introduced his name into the world of soccer. From that point on, Ronaldo never stopped proving himself and became the perpetrator of one of the greatest goals in European history – the overhead kick against Juventus. The historic goal saw all four corners of the stadium rise to applaud before his decision to make the big switch to the Italian giants.

Much like Ronaldo, Messi has also been the face of soccer in the past decade. Victory after victory and honors after honors eventually put Messi’s name as arguably the best to ever play the game. His long-time rivalry with Ronaldo evidently urged him to always perform at his best in the past decade. Many are convinced that the Argentine icon has a natural-born talent that is destined to take soccer on a different level. 10 years have passed but Messi still does things that seemed impossible to achieve inside the field.

Messi’s legacy isn’t only derived from his triumphs. In fact, he only managed to cop two Champions League victories under his name. However, with the overwhelming amount of his personal recognitions and undeniable impact to every club he has played for, Messi is still considered one of the greatest players to ever perform in the European stage.
