  • Liverpool gaining interest in Brazilian prospects
  • Liverpool linked to prospects dubbed as "New Kaka" and "Next Neymar"
  • Liverpool still heavily linked to Adama Traore

Premier League champions Liverpool now have their eyes set on Brazilian prospects dubbed as “New Kaka” and “Next Neymar.”

Aside from still being heavily linked to Adama Traore in the wake of capturing the Premier League title, Liverpool are now gaining interest in signing Brazilian prospects.

According to Liverpool.com, the Reds have set sights on Igor Gomes and Talles Magno. Due to his thick dark hair, São Paulo origin and resemblance with Kaka on the pitch, Gomes has earned comparisons with the Brazilian legend.

A total of 27 league appearances for Brazilian side São Paulo last season was apparently enough for the Reds to notice Gomes. However, the report further revealed that the 21-year-old is still relatively unpolished as a professional as most of his appearances were off the bench.

Nevertheless, Gomes emerged as notable player in the 2019 Brasileirão campaign, scoring and assisting twice apiece.

Originally, Gomes was reportedly considered first by Ajax. However, the links of Liverpool to Brazilian players apparently resulted to a Gomes being put on the Reds’ radar. However, the club’s official website further noted that “Gomes appears to be a player capable of breaking into the Ajax side, but with Liverpool, he could perhaps struggle to unseat the likes of Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.”

In simpler terms, the “new Kaka” might need a little more time to shine in a stacked Liverpool squad. But on the positive side, Brazilian sources told the website that Gomes holds an EU passport which would make any potential transfer easier to facilitate given that he is not yet a full Brazil international. This is important as the Reds have missed out on top prospects due ot work permit issues in the past.

Magno on the other hand, is a 17-year-old wonderkid currently playing for Brazilian club Vasco de Gama. Before Gomes, Magno was the first notable Brazilian who has been linked to a possible move to Liverpool.

Due to comparisons with Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, it has been said that Jurgen Klopp’s side is ready to explore possible options for Magno. However, landing the “next Neymar” could be a long shot for Liverpool as the youngster has reportedly entered a contract with an exit clause that wouldn’t go lower than £28 million ($34.8 million). Given the situation, Klopp’s side would have to go beyond the budget should they decide to really pursue the Neymar-like player this summer.
