The M1X Mac Mini could launch with a more portable design than the current generation and feature improved ports and a plexiglass-like panel, new rumors have suggested.

On May 25, popular tipster Jon Prosser gave out information on what Apple customers could expect from the upcoming M1X Mini. In his eight-minute-long YouTube video, he talked about the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference, and gave his viewers a glimpse of the tech giant’s innovations on its next Mac mini that will replace the Intel-powered Mac mini lineup in the market.

Prosser said, according to people familiar with the matter, the M1X Mac Mini will come with the new external chassis featuring a new generation of industrial design, making it more portable. The SFF-class desktop could ditch the traditional metallic build as it launches a plexiglass-like design with a reflective surface to cover the aluminum enclosure, 9to5 Mac reported.

He believes the plexiglass-like design with the reflective top surface could be an implication that Apple plans to release two-tone color options to the M1X Mac mini. The leaker mentioned his sources, saying “they have tested different colors” although he did not specifically clarify if they were referring to the M1X Mac mini. Apple recently released the iMac lineup with a wide variety of color options

The M1X Mac mini could also feature a full lineup of ports namely HDMI, Ethernet, two ports for USB A, four USB 4.0/ Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports. Just like the M1-powered iMac lineup, the upcoming Mac mini will also come with a magnetic power connector.

The name M1X Mac mini is currently the working title for Apple’s next Mac mini. GSM Arena suggests its name could also be M2 or an altogether different title.

Reports said the M1X Mac mini will come with up to 64 GB of RAM and up to 10 graphic cores featuring eight performance cores and two efficiency cores. It also looks like Apple could announce the M1X Mac mini at the Worldwide Developers Conference to be held from June 7 to June 11. Among the list of anticipated launches are the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with almost similar specifications as the upcoming Mac mini.
