A man was arrested for beheading his father over a domestic dispute. The incident took place in the Kenyan town of Nanyuki on Tuesday.

Police said 29-year-old Dennis Mwangi brutally killed and beheaded his father, 59-year-old Peter Ndegwa, following disagreements between them. After killing the man, Mwangi carried his father’s decapitated head in a bucket and paraded it outside his estate. Villagers alerted the police who arrived at the scene and took Mwangi into custody.

It was believed the victim was ailing for a while now. Police said investigation into the incident was ongoing and the exact motive behind the murder was not immediately known. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was moved to a local hospital. The accused was scheduled to appear in court next week.

The incident comes days after a man beheaded a 21-year-old woman while she was returning to work post lunch break in the Kenyan town of Nkabune. The incident came to light after villagers saw the unidentified man running with the woman’s severed head in one hand and a machete in the other. A blood trail led the villagers to a nearby farm where they found the decapitated head of the victim. The headless body of the victim, mother of a two-year-old, was spotted on a road by another villager a while later.

“The killer cut her head at the back first then turned and cut her again by the throat then he took the head and ran with it but abandoned it 30 meters from here,” a witness told local media.

In another incident this month, a man was arrested for beheading his neighbor and attacking two others before fleeing from the scene. The accused arrived at his neighbor’s home armed with a machete and picked up a fight with the victim before attacking him with the weapon. He then attacked two others who tried to stop him as he attempted to flee. He was arrested the following morning from a nearby plantation.
