A man in Dubai killed his girlfriend, drove around the city with her body in the car before turning himself to the police, a court heard Sunday.

The court heard that the incident took place in July last year. On the day of the incident, the man and his girlfriend were riding in his car when they got into a heated argument during which the accused slit the victim’s throat. He then drove around the city for 45 minutes with the body lying in the front seat of the vehicle. He also stopped at a restaurant and got himself some food before driving to the police station. He surrendered himself while his girlfriend’s body was in the vehicle that was parked outside.

The 27-year-old man confessed to the crime and told the investigators that the two got into an argument after he found out that she was talking to other men. In a fit of rage, he stabbed her several times and also slit her throat.

Recalling the moment when the accused got into the police station to surrender himself, a police officer said, "He looked confused and tense. His left hand was covered with a blood-covered piece of cloth. His clothes were untidy." The officer then rushed to the car.

"I used gloves to open the car. Its engine was still running. The body was there lying on the front seat which was completely bent backwards. She looked stabbed and had also neck injury marks. A big knife was left on the back seat. I called the forensic experts,” he recalled.

The accused, who was facing charges of premeditated murder, was scheduled to appear in court again on March 24.
