A 20-year-old man in Harris County, Texas, is facing murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed an 18-year-old boy Friday.

The suspect, identified by Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) deputies as Daniel Hines, allegedly shot the victim, identified as Curtis Mobley, multiple times outside a home in Spring, Texas, at around 11:10 a.m. Friday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement posted on Twitter.

Sgt. Ben Beall with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said a woman called 911 Friday from a home on Blodgett Peak Trail, KPRC reported.

The woman told deputies she allegedly found the 18-year-old victim in bed with her juvenile daughter, according to investigators. The victim was possibly the juvenile's ex-boyfriend, ABC 13 reported.

The mother said she informed her nephew, who was home at the time. The nephew and the victim apparently ended up in a shootout outside the home, according to Beall.

"She called 911 and said that she discovered an 18-year-old male, the victim, in bed with her juvenile daughter. She notified her nephew, who was at the residence, who apparently got into a gunfight with the victim," Beall was quoted as saying by KPRC.

A home across the street was struck multiple times by gunfire, but no one in that residence was injured, according to Sheriff Gonzalez.

Beall said 14 to 15 fired shell casings were found at the scene.

Mobley was found unresponsive on the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was brought to a hospital in critical condition but later died of his injuries.

Hines was not injured. He was taken to the HCSO Homicide Unit for questioning and was later charged.

When asked how confident they felt in the accounts they have received about what happened, Beall said, "We are not confident at all."

He said that they have received "different versions of what was called in to 911 and what she told us happened" and that they are still trying to figure out what the accurate story is, according to ABC 13.

"The male that was in the juvenile daughter's bedroom, he was armed with a pistol," Beall said, according to KPRC. "The 18-year-old (sic) nephew, he was armed with a pistol so, at this point, we are going to have to get a story from him and he is going to have to raise the issue of self-defense."

Beall said that the victim was gathering up his things to leave, was polite and was outside the house when he was killed, ABC 13 reported.

Hines and two other people, including his aunt, were all taken to be questioned. Hines was later arrested and charged with murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact HCSO Homicide at 713-274-9100 or CrimeStoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
