A man in Bronx shot his rival in the leg following a fistfight, only to be thrashed by the angry onlookers.

The incident happened on Walton Ave. near Elliot Place in Mt. Eden, where 23-year-old unidentified man drew a gun and opened fire, New York Daily News reported, citing law enforcement.

The victim, identified as Rafael Vasquez, 39, was on the winning side when he was fired at. “There were some shots and one guy went down," a witness said on condition of anonymity.

The witnesses gave the assailant a chase right after Vasquez fell on the ground and pinned him to the ground, beating him. "The crowd came down on him and beat him up badly,” the witness added.

The bystanders “stomped him out,” a cop said, referring to the gunman. He sustained head injuries and police worked to ascertain if he was also shot. According to sources, a 22-year-old unidentified companion of the gunman grabbed the fireman and attempted to flee the scene, but he was busted about two blocks away, at E. 170th St. and Townsend Ave.

Both the gunman and Vasquez were rushed to Lincoln Hospital and police said both of them are likely to face criminal charges. The 22-year-old companion of the gunman is also expected to face charges, according to police.

There was a fourth man also involved in the shooting. He appeared to dump a gun in a puddle under a car near the shooting scene. Cops were working to determine whether the gun was also linked to the melee. It was immediately unclear whether the fourth man would also face the charge.

In late April, a verbal duel between two Pennsylvania schoolboys turned far violent and one of them ended up seriously injured being ambushed by a crowbar. Both the boys were aboard a school bus and when it pulled over on a road, the older one, 17, ran through the emergency exit unit and the younger one, 14, followed him grabbing the crowbar. He struck the older boy in his knee with the crowbar first but the older one managed to snatch it and hit the younger one repeatedly in the stomach and head, causing multiple fractures and injuries.
