A man was arrested after he hit his daughter’s face with a hammer for not getting a job. The incident took place in Kerian district of Malaysia on Monday.

The superintendent chief police of Kerian, Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob, said the incident took place when the 24-year-old victim was reading the Quran at their home in Kuala Kurau on Monday evening. The father, aged 58, was disappointed with his daughter for not being able to find a job despite having a bachelor's degree. He came home after work, took out a steel hammer and hit his daughter several times on her face and head. He then banged his head against a wall several times.

“After seeing how badly injured she was, the man then proceeded to hit his head against the wall. He cracked his left wrist and had to receive five stitches on his head,” Yaacob said, the World Of Buzz reported.

The victim was shifted to a hospital in Taiping for further treatment as her injuries were severe. The man was taken into custody after his treatment.

In a similar incident in December 2018, a man set his daughter on fire over her phone addiction in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Mohamad Mansuri got into an argument with his 16-year-old daughter over her continuous usage of phone. He also had a doubt that she was communicating with a boy. The man suddenly threw the phone on the ground, doused her in kerosene and set the girl on fire. Neighbors rushed to the house after hearing the girl’s screams and immediately took her to a hospital. The girl suffered 70 percent burn injuries. The father was arrested and he told police he committed the crime in a fit of rage.

“Mansuri didn't approve of his eldest daughter, a Class IV dropout, speaking to her friends on the phone. He had twice warned her to not do so, and they once had a heated argument over the issue. The girl told her father that her mobile was lost, but when he caught her talking on the phone on Monday (Dec.31) again, he got furious and poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze,” an officer said.
