A Massachusetts woman stabbed her father in the chest after having an argument with him over a Facebook post. According to local reports, the woman did not want to hurt her father but was only carrying the weapon to scare him.

Kelsey Gaulin's father accused her of making critical reference to him on the social media website. A dispute broke out between the two at their home in Palmer, about 75 miles west of Boston. The 27-year-old walked into her father’s bedroom with a knife to threaten the man, reports said.

“I was going to say something to him like be quiet, but before I could he threw himself into the knife,” she wrote in her statement to police, according to MassLive.com. “I was still holding it and I saw his eyes get real wide open. I kept saying ‘I’m sorry. I was holding a knife.'”

She also told police her relationship with her father had been hostile for two decades, beginning when she grew up in Texas and continued when she moved with her father, mother and two brothers to Palmer five years ago.

Following the assault, Jerry Gaulin was treated for a serious chest injury, which doctors said was not life-threatening. He told police the knife was four to five inches long. Authorities found the weapon on his daughter’s dresser.

Kelsey pleaded not guilty Tuesday to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a family member. She was held without bail and her court appearance was set for Feb. 19.

“I know I went too far tonight,” she wrote in a police statement. “I know that even trying to scare him, I went too far.”

In January, a minor was involved in a similar incident when she stabbed her father in the face after they argued about an online relationship she was allegedly involved in. The incident took place in Twin Lakes, Colorado.

Twin Lakes police arrived at an apartment on Holy Hill Road and found a 38-year-old man with a stab wound to his face. The victim and his 14-year-old daughter were reportedly arguing earlier in the evening about an online relationship the teen was apparently involved in, which led to her attacking him with a butcher knife. The man was lying on a cot in the living room when the daughter attacked him.
