  • Ralf Rangnick hopes Paul Pogba will take advantage of his remaining time with the club
  • Pogba is one of many Red Devils players looking to leave the club in the summer
  • Manchester United needs to win their next couple of matches to salvage a tumultuous season

Manchester United fans have long been hoping to see Paul Pogba back on the pitch and their wish has been granted, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick advocating for him to excel despite potentially leaving in the summer.

When asked whether bringing Pogba back into the fold after missing time due to injury is worth their while, Rangnick was quick to answer that success is what the club and the fans are looking for.

“For me, it's not a question if a player has an expiring contract, the question is how much does he still want to be a part of this group, how much does he still feel emotionally and physically on board. As long as this is the case, why shouldn't Paul Pogba now after two and half months of injury, fully fit again now?” he noted as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Pogba is one of many Manchester United standouts rumored to be looking for a new home as the team’s current roster construction, put together by the recently sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, failed to offer them substantial playing time.

Rangnick has already spoken about the future of backup goalkeeper Dean Henderson and is adamant that he will not let him leave by declaring that he has declined Henderson’s request for a transfer.

As first reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, disgruntled winger Anthony Martial is still looking for a way out of the club but is not interested in any English clubs as teams like Barcelona, Sevilla and Juventus are still on the table.

Pogba’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in the summer, but suitors for the FIFA World Cup-winning playmaker have been cautious about his injury history, particularly the thigh problem that has kept him out of the Manchester United lineup for the past two months.

His reasons for leaving the club are more than understandable as Manchester United has failed to win any silverware since the 2016-17 season when they took home the English Football League Cup.

At 28 years old, Pogba’s window of competing for major trophies is slowly closing and Manchester United fans are in full recognition of that.

However, there could be a light at the end of the tunnel for Rangnick’s side this season as both Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are set to rejoin the squad for their next match against Brentford, alongside Pogba.

Both Marcus Rashford and Cristiano Ronaldo are gameday decisions as they deal with their respective injuries, but Rangnick is optimistic that they will take to the field.

Their last fixture against Aston Villa turned for the worse as they blew a two-goal lead and had to settle for a draw that frustrated the 62-year-old interim manager to no end.

Manchester United fans are hoping that their side can salvage the season starting with a victory over Brentford on Wednesday, January 20.
