KEY POINTS

  • Manchester United has not been impressive in its offense despite having a stacked frontline
  • The Red Devils scouts are said to be tracking Fiorentina's Dusan Vlahovic
  • Arsenal has reportedly been reaching out to Vlahovic's representatives

Manchester United could still improve the frontline despite already having Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils are still trying to figure out how they can be at their best form given they are already stacked with elie-level strikers.

As expected, Ronaldo has been fulfilling his role, bagging goals for the club as the primary center-forward.

However, it appears that Manchester United is already prepping up for the future and it has its sights on Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic, Italian outlet Calciomercato reported.

According to the report, Manchester United scouts were present during Fiorentina’s recent match against Juventus to see if Vlahovic really is the real deal.

As it appears, Manchester United will only be one of the clubs already sizing up a transfer swoop for Vlahovic as Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso recently confirmed that the chance to extend his contract had already passed.

Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side manage to secure the signature of Vlahovic, he will immediately become a suitable understudy of Ronaldo, per Manchester Evening News.

Apart from Manchester United, reputable transfer insider and Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio said that Arsenal is now working on bringing in the Serbian in the next transfer window.

“The team most interested in [Dusan] Vlahovic for January is Arsenal,” Di Marzio revealed. “The English club has established a dialogue more than positive with Fiorentina and would be willing to satisfy the requests of the Viola club to reach an agreement."

“The problem is that Arsenal is unable to speak to the player’s agents, they do not answer the phone,” he continued. “The Gunners want to talk to the boy to explain their project to him, but these lack of answers make it impossible to enter into a negotiation.”

Despite the constant rumors linking Vlahovic to a move away from Fiorentina in January, the club’s manager Vincenzo Italiano insists that his talisman is “highly focused” in giving it all for his current side.

“We are talking about a guy who has scored eight goals in 11 appearances even if, during some games, we were not able to provide service properly,” Italiano said of Vlahovic’s transfer rumors. “I don’t read papers, I’ve heard about Arsenal, Tottenham, City, Juventus and Milan.”

“They are just rumors and not too credible for me, the guy is highly focused and he wants to do well."

Vlahovic took Italian football by storm last season, having scored 21 goals in 40 games across all competitions.

This term, the 21-year-old has already scored 10 times in 13 matches for Fiorentina.
