  • Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likened the English striker’s career to Cristiano Ronaldo’s

A Manchester United striker could be on his way to superstardom.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Old Trafford all-time great Dwight Yorke heaped praise on Marcus Rashford.

According to the former Red Devils forward, Rashford at the moment is a player who can rival Paris Saint-Germain’s superstar Kylian Mbappe. Hence, Yorke also pointed out that though there is no telling what the future holds, Man United’s no. 10 has the potential to reach Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s level.

"Absolutely. [Rashford] is certainly in the bracket of [Kylian] Mbappe," Yorke said. "The likes of [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo are a different level, but Marcus is certainly one for the future in terms of being one of the best players in the world, if he keeps working hard and developing his football.”

Rashford has become one of the most consistent performers in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. To date, the Englishman has already bagged nine goals in 25 English Premier League appearances. But for Yorke, Rashford could improve his game further in a “couple of years.”

"We haven't seen the best of Rashford yet,” the 49-year-old pointed out. “I think that if we give him another couple of years and let him learn the ins and outs of the game a little bit more, he will only get better. I consider that he is still in that educational part, so he has another couple of years before he develops into the complete player.”

"Marcus is being Marcus, and you just see a young man who loves playing football and has unbelievable ability,” he continued. “He has an eye for goal and all the other attributes you look for in a striker: He's quick, he can go past people, he can create, he can score. He does all of that. We just need to allow him to enjoy it and produce that consistency. He is still in the development stage and people should just allow him to express himself so that, eventually, we'll see an even better Rashford."

Yorke isn’t the only one seeing Rashford transcending his current form. Based on Solskjaer’s recent comments about his talisman, Rashford’s career is soaring like Ronaldo’s during the Portuguese star’s time with Man United.

"We’ve had the best possible example of that in world football with Cristiano [Ronaldo], the way he has looked after himself the way he came into the club," Solskjaer recently said of Rashford.

"We all took notice the way he developed throughout his career and the way he looked after himself is major,” the manager continued. “I’m sure Marcus is looking after himself but that’s the only way to be at the top. You can’t get distracted."
