  • Coming off the bench, Pogba lasted only 15 minutes on the field
  • Liverpool thrashed Man Utd 5-0 at Old Trafford

Former Premier League defender Michael Gray has slammed Paul Pogba, saying he brings "bad blood" before adding Manchester United should get rid of him.

Pogba came off the bench in the second but lasted only 15 minutes in Manchester United's humiliating 5-0 loss to Liverpool FC at Old Trafford. Pogba was slapped with a red card for a nasty foul on Reds midfielder Naby Keita, who was stretchered off the pitch.

"The result wasn't down to the sending off. It was a ridiculous challenge from Paul Pogba. His attitude really does need looking at. Yes, you get left out, but the best reaction is you going to your manager and saying 'right, gimme a game and I will prove to you that I should be in this starting XI.' There are certain players at this football club, I don’t think they're going to be here in the future. Man United should just cut their cloth accordingly with Paul Pogba," Gray, who started his soccer career at Man Utd's academy, told radio station TalkSport.

Keita opened the scoring in the fifth minute that turned out to be the earliest Premier League goal Liverpool have ever scored at Old Trafford. A few minutes later, Diogo Jota doubled Liverpool's lead before Mo Salah once again showed why he is counted among the best at present. The Egyptian King netted a hat-trick, becoming the first Liverpool player to do so at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

"Okay, they spent on him but moving forward he's not a part of Manchester United. He just brings bad blood. People often point the finger at Paul Pogba but that is not the reaction of a player that wants to prove that he wants to be at Manchester United. It was terrible from him," added Gray in the same interview.

Pogba will be out of contract at the end of this season and is yet to sign an extension. It has been reported that Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola are expecting to receive a massive contract offer from Manchester United that will make the French midfielder one of the highest-paid players in Premier League history.

Meanwhile, Gray, who played for a series of English clubs during his playing career, including Wolves and Blackburn Rovers, also questioned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to not play Jadon Sancho.

"Everybody applauded the Ronaldo signing and there have been big occasions but you should've seen him today. He was walking around for the last 20/25 minutes. I don't know where to go with Manchester United. They've got Sancho on the bench and they bring on Diogo Dalot. What must Sancho be thinking? He’s come to a club like Manchester United to play week in, week out," said Gray.

Liverpool are currently placed second in the 2021-22 Premier League table, while Manchester United have dropped to seventh following the massive 5-0 loss Sunday.
