Paul Pogba is reportedly waiting to sign a new contract extension with Manchester United.

Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola are expecting to receive a massive contract offer from Manchester United that will make the French midfielder one of the highest-paid players in Premier League history, reported French publication L'Equipe.

In order to finally end the uncertainty regarding Pogba’s future at Old Trafford, Manchester United will have to match the midfielder’s salary demands. The Red Devils could offer Pogba a record Premier League salary that would see the France national earn an annual wage of around $23 million, according to sports outlet Eurosport.

The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who moved from Juventus to Manchester United in the summer of 2021, has complicated the wage structure at the club. But it is understood that Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani’s supposed departure next summer will free up a lot of room on the wage books.

Pogba, whose current Man Utd deal is due to expire at the end of the 2021-22 campaign, remains Manchester United’s record signing. In fact, when the Red Devils signed Pogba for $121 million in the summer of 2016, it hit the then-record transfer fee.

Amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid, there have been rumors suggesting Manchester United could lose their expensive buy, Pogba, for free in 2022. After many ups and downs at Manchester United since his return five years ago, Pogba is finally seen enjoying his time at the club he had joined as a 16-year-old in 2009.

Pogba has made seven assists in as many Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season.

Earlier in the season, Pogba had admitted that the current Red Devils side is the "strongest" Manchester United team he has played in.

"There have always been strong Manchester United teams, but this is definitely the strongest [I've played in]. It is obviously in this club's DNA to win trophies. We have a strong team that can become champions. We know how hard it is, but we will do our best to lift the trophy this season," said Pogba.

It is well known that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer values Pogba’s contributions. In fact, even Pogba’s teammates do the same. Bruno Fernandes even went on to say he would wait on Pogba’s extension before he extended his contract with Manchester United.
