Manny Machado has had himself quite a year. The San Diego Padres star just finished third in the 2020 National League MVP voting while owning a $10 million estate in southern California.

The 28-year-old purchased a 7,288 square-foot compound in Coronado, California, last year, Variety reported on Tuesday. The bay-front spread features eight bedrooms, 11 baths, and incredible waterfront views, paid for by one of the most lucrative contracts in the history of professional sports.

Machado inked a 10-year, $300 million contract with the Padres in February 2019. The MLB star spent the first six and a half years of his career with the Baltimore Orioles before spending a few months as a Los Angeles Dodger just prior to his free agency.

By signing a deal that pays him an average of $30 million per year, Machado nearly doubled his 2018 salary of $16 million. Machado earned over $39 million in total in his MLB career before joining the Padres, Spotrac reports.

Machado’s net worth is estimated to be $50 million by Celebrity Net Worth.

Because the coronavirus pandemic forced MLB to shorten its season in 2020, Machado didn’t earn his expected salary this year. In a truncated 60-game season, the infielder made just north of $11 million.

When MLB returns to its usual 162-game schedule in 2021, Machado is set to earn $32 million, which includes $2 million of his signing bonus.

Machado finished third in the NL in both home runs and RBI last season. There was no 2020 All-Star Game, but Machado was an All-Star four times from 2013-2018.

Only Bryce Harper and Gerrit Cole have signed larger free-agent contracts than Machado.
