Manny Pacquiao has opened up about his passion for boxing and retirement.

At this point, many are convinced that Pacquiao doesn’t have to prove anything in boxing. However, it seems like boxing is the one that is pulling him back to the ring. In fact, the biggest stars in the welterweight division are all eyeing for a fight with him.

Pacquiao’s name is currently linked to several welterweight fighters and the Filipino legend seems to have no problem with it at all. In a recent interview with FightHype.com, Pacquiao admitted that he should be doing diifferent things now but his heart belongs to boxing.

According to the Fighting Senator, he is aware that he should be focusing on being a lawmaker but his passion for boxing is still there.

“That’s the real passion. Of course I’m a Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, If you think (about it), I have to focus as a senator but I want to box because boxing is my passion. That’s why I’m still here giving honor to my country and entertain people,” Pacquiao said.

When asked about his thoughts regarding retirement, Pacquiao revealed that he is also thinking about it. However, his body hasn’t told him it’s over yet.

“I’m thinking about that, but right now I’m good, I can still fight,”

A few days ago, Pacquiao asked his fans what fight they want to see next. The Filipino legend took to social media his excitement to get back to training.

“I miss my fans. I miss training camp. Can’t wait to be back soon. What fight do you want to see next? #TeamPacquiao,” Pacquiao wrote.

Based on the comments he received, fans are mostly telling Pacquiao that they want to see him fight IBF and WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. next. However, Spence has already offered Shawn Porter a rematch after narrowly beating him by a 12 round split decision on September 28.

Apparently, this is the second time Pacquiao asked the opinion of his fans regarding who he should fight next. Two years ago, fans wanted to see him face Amir Khan. However, instead of facing Khan, Pacquiao’s promoters at Top Rank matched him against Australian fighter Jeff Horn in July 2017.

The Horn fight did not end well for Pacquiao with Horn winning a controversial decision. Many believed that Pacquiao would have been better off if he’d listened to his fans, and fought Khan instead.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao has confirmed that his team is already negotiating the details for the rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“My team and his team are talking right now. This is just about negotiations, about the formal discussions. So I don’t know what will happen,” Pacquiao stated.
