Only three contestants remain in Season 6 of “MasterChef”-- Derrick Peltz, Stephen Lee and Claudia Sandoval. The three remaining home cooks will battle it out in a special two-part finale on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

According to the episode synopsis shared by TV Guide, Derrick, Stephen and Claudia will be cooking for 30 distinguished guests in the semi-final round. The invited judges are all VIPs from the culinary world and they will help determine which contestant will win the challenge and earn an automatic spot in the final showdown.

The two losing contestants will then face off in a pressure test to gain a spot in the finals. The pressure test involves cooking three classic recipes. The loser of this challenge will end his or her “MasterChef” dream. Meanwhile, the winner earns a spot to compete in the final round.

Finally, the last two home cooks, who are left standing, will cook in front of their friends and family. They will be battling it out for $250,000 cash prize and a deal to publish their own cookbook.

Last week, all three contestants spoke about their plans if they win the title. Derrick said that he wants to open his own restaurant called “Rock Torn Rose.” Claudia wants to dig deep into her Latina roots and start a restaurant called “Claudia’s Cocina.” Stephen, who has been known to be the season’s resident farmer, wants to put up a farm-driven food truck.

Culinary superstars Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Christina Tosi are the judges for Season 6 of “MasterChef.” The season finale is scheduled to air on Sept. 16, at 8:00 pm EDT on FOX.
