The media appear to be quite harsh to Meghan Markle because they want to get at her “untouchable” husband Prince Harry.

Since the former “Suits” star joined the royal family, she has always made headlines due to different issues. One netizen took to online forum Quora to ask if the media are harsh to the Duchess of Sussex as a way to get at Prince Harry who is “pretty much untouchable” since he was a bachelor. The question received mixed reactions from royal fans.

Gwendolyn Hendrix, former professor and a Frances Perkins & Hearst Mellon scholar, believed that it was possible. She cited how the press blamed Markle for her husband being not sociable because they couldn’t do the same to Prince Harry.

“And you’re correct. Since they couldn’t attack Harry, they attacked who he loved, and it was after the tour that the attacks began,” Hendrix wrote.

“So yes to your question, and more. But thankfully, you can only fool the public some of the time. Like they always do,the press over exaggerate and people are tired of the constant and relentless bashing, and are calling them out.”

Meanwhile, Nick Hodgson doesn’t agree. For him, the press attacked Markle because she is smart and she knows how to handle the media. Also, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have offended the reporters for insisting their privacy on Archie’s birth and baptism.

“The media doesn’t like being shut out because it denies them the opportunity to take photos of the royal couple and the royal baby and those photos represent papers sold and websites clicked on - both of which translate to advertising dollars,” he added.

He also opposed to the claim that Prince Harry was untouchable during his bachelor years. The Duke of Sussex had also made headlines and was involved in a number of controversies including his scandalous Nazi outfit and nude photos from a stripped billiard game in Los Angeles.

Melissa Marshall agreed that Prince Harry wasn’t really “untouchable.” There were reports of Prince Harry using drugs when he was a teenager and he was also involved in a number of altercations with the media.

On the other hand, per Millie Gaitanella’s opinion, the attention Markle received was due to her actions. For her, the Duchess of Sussex has drawn it to herself because it’s like she was “jumping up and down yelling as loud as she can, ‘look at me a feminist, divorce’, minority, American that has snagged the Prince Henry of Wales.”
