Meghan Markle A 'Breath Of Fresh Air' To The Royals, Source Says

Meghan Markle is not intimidated by the royal family, according to one royal expert.

The "Suits" star may not be the ideal girlfriend for a British prince since she's an American, wears ripped jeans and is a divorcee, but Markle, 36, is apparently confident and self-assured enough to hold her own among the members of the royal family.

"She's clearly very self-assured, fearless even. In that respect, she is really a breath of fresh air. She's not a blank canvas on to which royals can project an image, but already has a clear idea of who she is and what she wants to achieve. You haven't seen anyone like this since Diana," royal author Katie Nicholl told Grazia (via Independent). "Meghan doesn't seem to be intimidated by the royal family. She has taken everything in her stride and handled her foray into the royal family with impressive confidence."

The author added that Markle is a positive influence on Prince Harry and has made him much happier. Over the past months, he has dropped his guard and seems to be enjoying life. Prince William's brother has also become more open, especially when it comes to their late mom. "It feels like he's met the right woman at the right time in his life," Nicholl said.

Other insiders also felt that Markle is indeed different from most other royals. And although she may not have been brought up as a royal, she apparently has qualities that would be perfect for a princess.

"Meghan has all the makings of a princess. Meghan is a natural, and her personality shines through," said "Tatler" style editor Sophie Goodwin (via People).

In addition to her good qualities, the "Remember Me" star is also beginning to set new fashion trends like Prince William's wife, Kate Middleton. In fact, just a few hours after she was photographed at the 2017 Invictus Games with her beau, her whole ensemble -- a button-down shirt, ripped jeans, flats footwear and tote -- sold out in stores. Her influence in fashion, dubbed the Meghan Effect, is reportedly as potent as the Duchess of Cambridge's Kate Effect.
