Meghan Markle was recently criticized for allegedly announcing her pregnancy to the royal family at Princess Eugenie’s wedding last week. However, it has been revealed that this wasn’t really the case.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, a majority of the members of the royal family already knew that the Duchess of Sussex is pregnant with her first child days before Princess Eugenie’s wedding. A source told the publication that Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank also knew about Markle’s pregnancy even before they tied the knot.

William Hanson, an etiquette expert, previously slammed the “Suits” alum for stealing Princess Eugenie’s moment.

“Whether they are royal or not, they committed a faux pas. They did slightly upstage the bride and that is a complete no-no,” he told Express.

On Monday, Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting the arrival of their firstborn in the spring of 2019.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” the statement read.

The palace also revealed that Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Doria Ragland are all delighted with the news.

Earlier this week, Sarah Ferguson was also rumored to have stolen the thunder back from Markle’s pregnancy to her daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding. After Markle’s pregnancy announcement, the Duchess of York uploaded a beautiful photo of her daughter and Brooksbank from their wedding day.

“So proud of Eugenie and Jack,” she captioned the colored photo.

The doting mom also shared a black and white snap of the royal couple, which was taken on the steps of St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

“Andrew and I are proud to welcome Jack to the York family,” Ferguson captioned the photo.

Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank’s wedding took place on Oct. 12. Markle’s pregnancy announcement was made on Oct. 15.
