Meghan Markle reportedly did not understand that she has to work hard after joining the royal family.

Princess Margaret’s former lady-in-waiting Lady Glenconner shared her thoughts about the Duchess of Sussex in an interview with The Guardian. According to her, the former actress had the wrong expectations about a royal life.

“I think she thought she could drive around in a golden coach. But it’s actually quite boring. Princess Margaret did so much charity work, and without any photographers, unlike the Princess of Wales,” Lady Glenconner said.

She is a “staunch royalist” and sympathizes with more traditional branches of the family. In fact, she also found Prince Harry and Prince William’s outing with Princess Diana “a bit much.”

Royal correspondent Omid Scobie shared the same opinion. He told listeners of the Heirpod podcast that Prince Harry’s wife thought that her position as a royal comes with instant popularity and she had “unrealistic expectations” of her role.

“I think one of the biggest mistakes Meghan made, and I’ve heard this from sources close to her, is that she naively went in thinking this role came almost with an instant popularity,” Scobie said.

Actor and comedian David Spade also shared his thoughts about Markle in an episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” The former “Saturday Night Live” actor believed that Markle got carried away with her life as a royal and eventually found it “boring” that’s why she stepped back as a senior member of the royal family.

“I feel like she gets swept off her feet like the dream,” Spade said. “She goes over to England and she has this crazy wedding and she’s literally royalty but then it gets a little mundane and she’s like, ‘All right, let’s head back to LA. I’ve got to go to my Cold Reading class on Pico again and just get back into acting.’ I think the fun part was over and now she sort of got a little bored.”

Meanwhile, Markle’s estranged half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. said that she will return to Hollywood. Markle Jr. said that his sister wants to be in the spotlight all the time. However, although Markle has the confidence to be like Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Amal Clooney, he said, “she won’t be like them.”
