  • Lady Colin Campbell said Tom Bower covered a new ground about Meghan Markle in his new book
  • Campbell said that "Revenge" is not a proper biography because it is not balanced
  • The royal pundit said that the book's pace is relentless, but it is worth reading

A British biographer and commentator weighed in on the new book about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Lady Colin Campbell, the author of several royal books, including "Meghan and Harry: The Real Story" and "Diana in Private," shared her opinion about the new book "Revenge" by British author and investigative journalist Tom Bower while answering some royal fans' questions in a Q&A on her YouTube channel.

One fan said Bower did not cover other interesting subjects like hazing, surrogate, and age, but covered Markle's dreadful behavior and a new ground about the duchess, to which Campbell agreed. She also agreed with the netizen calling Markle a "crazy narcissist" and Prince Harry not coming out in a good light.

"I agree with that. I'm reading these because each of the ones that I'm reading has a point and is relevant to the subject at hand," the royal expert said. "And yes, if you had any doubt which I don't think anybody who is at all knowledgeable on the subject, has had that Meghan is a truly, pretty, in my opinion, dreadful human being."

She added that Bower "clears that doubt up splendiferously and relentlessly." As for Bower's book, she agreed that there were times when she struggled to read the next page because its "pace is relentless."

According to Campbell, "a good biography sets a varied pace," before adding that the tome "is as relentless as Meghan." However, she credited Bower for his "gobsmacking" efficiency.

One follower said Bower's book is down to Markle's character and conduct combined and not a biography or historical record or evidential documentation, leaving readers to draw conclusions. Campbell agreed, saying it was a "fairly fair assessment," adding that "it's not really a proper biography because it is not at all balanced." However, she also noted that Bower was not known for writing balanced books. She added that the investigative journalist has been regarded as a "disher of dirt."

"It is a book worth reading. It can be very heavy going at times, only because it is unrelenting," she said about Bower's new book. "But anybody who's interested in the subject, I would say, I would not discourage you from buying it. It adds to the dossier of one's knowledge."

Campbell told her fans to let her know if they wanted a detailed review of the book, which might take numerous episodes, or talk about it in one episode.
