Meghan Markle's got a friend in Prince Charles.

It's no secret that the Duchess of Sussex has been criticized since news first broke of her relationship with Prince Harry. That criticism has only gotten worse as time went on and ultimately resulted in the couple filing a lawsuit against the British tabloids. Obviously, her husband is by her side to help her through this tough time but, she's likely also got an ally in her father-in-law, Prince Charles.

Their relationship apparently extends beyond just tolerating family members, and they've actually forged a close relationship over the last few years.

According to Express, an insider revealed to Vanity Fair that "the wedding was a real turning point" for their relationship.

"Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage," the source continued. "The bond between them is very close."

"He’s got a real soft spot for her and thinks she’s the best thing to have happened to Harry," they added.

Meghan also reportedly has a close bond with Queen Elizabeth. That doesn't extend to every member of the British royal family, though.

The 38-year-old's relationship with Kate Middleton hasn't been the coziest. So much so, that an unidentified source shared that the two will "never be best friends," However, they do remain "civil."
