Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are being likened to Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson because they also attended Wimbledon together.

The late Princess of Wales and Ferguson went to the tennis tournament together in 1989, and they watched the match from the Royal Box. In the black and white photo, Ferguson is seen leaning towards Princess Diana and whispering in her ear.

In another photo, Princess Diana and Ferguson kiss each other’s cheek before sitting close to each other. Also in the picture is Ferguson’s ex-husband Prince Andrew.

On Saturday, Princess Diana’s daughters-in-law, Markle and Middleton attended Wimbledon together for the first ever. They sat beside each other in the Royal Box, and they were also photographed chatting and laughing throughout the entire competition.

Markle wore an oversized Ralph Lauren shirt and white trousers to the tournament, while Middleton opted for a printed cream-colored dress. Markle’s hair was kept in a messy bun, while Middleton let her hair down for the event.

The former “Suits” star was at the Wimbledon to support her good friend Serena Williams. Unfortunately, the professional tennis player lost to Germany’s Angelique Kerber with a score of 6 to 3. Prior to Saturday’s sighting, Williams hinted at Markle’s attendance at Wimbledon this year. She said that her good friend will most likely pay the match a visit if she keeps winning.

On Thursday, Kensington Palace released a statement announcing Markle and Middleton’s attendance at the sports event.

“The Duchess of Cambridge, Wimbledon Patron, and the Duchess of Sussex will attend the Ladies’ Singles Final on Saturday 14th July. On Sunday 15th July, the Duchess of Cambridge along with the Duke of Cambridge will attend Wimbledon’s Gentlemen’s Singles Finals,” the statement read.

Based on the Kensington Palace’s tweet, Markle and Prince Harry won’t be present at Sunday’s game.
