Meghan Markle wore a sheer dress during her engagement pictorial with Prince Harry, and it has been dubbed as inappropriate by senior royals.

However, Angela Levin, a journalist and book author, said that Markle won’t be confronted for her decision to wear something out of the ordinary.

“It is unlikely that anyone whispered in Prince Harry’s ear that such intimate, sexy photographs were perhaps not quite appropriate for a senior royal. The Duke of Edinburgh, who used to lay down the rules for his family, has stepped back since his retirement in August 2017 and aged ninety-six,” she wrote in “Harry: Conversations With the Prince” (via Express).

“Prince Charles was unlikely to say anything as he felt guilty about his relationship with the Princess of Wales. He was also thrilled that Harry, who had been miserable for years, seemed to have settled down. Prince William wouldn’t either, because he too delights in his brother’s obvious happiness,” she added.

Prince Harry and Markle released three official engagement photos that were taken by Alexi Lubomirski. In the first photo, Markle is seen sitting in front of Prince Harry while in her sheer dress. In the second snap, the “Suits” alum is holding Prince Harry’s face while her eyes are closed. In the royal couple’s third picture, Prince Harry and Markle are photographed candidly while walking outside Frogmore House.

Following the release of their official snaps, Markle was once again criticized for wearing an expensive Ralph & Russo dress. However, she wasn’t confronted for it either. According to Levin, this may be because people have realized that what matters most is what Markle and Prince Harry would do for their country and the world as a team and not the pictures that they release.

Lubomirski previously explained why Markle chose a sheer dress for her engagement photo shoot. He told Harper’s Bazaar that they tried on multiple dresses and that was the one that she felt most comfortable in.

“So we weren’t really thinking, ‘Is it nude’ or anything. We just thought, ‘Feel comfortable and let’s make some nice pictures,’” he said.
