Meghan Markle received a similar honor that Kate Middleton, Princess Diana, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie also enjoyed early on.

British Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful revealed that he wants the Duchess of Sussex to be the next royal to grace the cover of the magazine. He also noted that he is very enthusiastic about the younger members of the Firm.

Enninful admitted to Evening Standard that he is very interested in the young royals while gesturing at a picture of Princess Beatrice on a card on his shelf. When asked who among the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex has better sense of fashion, Enninful did not give a concrete answer. However, he pointed out Middleton and Markle have different fashion choices.

“They are different, it’s all fun and games,” he said then added that he wants both Middleton and Markle to be on the cover of Vogue.

Last year, Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s daughter were invited to be featured in the September issue. However, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were not on the front cover as it featured Rihanna.

Aside from the two princesses, the Duchess of Cambridge was also offered the honor of joining the Vogue family. Middleton graced the Vogue cover for its centenary issue in 2016.

Former Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman revealed that she was very excited to work with the Duchess of Cambridge as part of their centenary issue. She was also happy that they were still able to work with the royals.

“For me personally it has been a wonderful experience to have had the opportunity to work with her on this, and I am immensely proud of what we have produced,” Shulman said about working with Middleton.

“This special issue of the magazine is very close to my heart as it had to reflect on 100 years of British Vogue, and so I am hugely grateful that we have been able to continue with our tradition of outstanding royal portraiture with these pictures,” she added.

Middleton and Markle’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, appeared on the magazine’s front cover in 1991. Princess Diana was actually featured in the magazine cover four times in 1981, 1991, 1994 and 1997.
