Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s next baby might not arrive until after two years from now.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just welcomed their first baby, Archie, in May. Royal fans are already wondering when they will give him a sibling.

According to a pregnancy expert, Prince Harry and Markle might wait for two years before having another baby. Midwife Nabila Fowles-Gutierrez told Express that the World Health Organization recommends spacing of two years between attempting next pregnancy because research shows that women who conceive 6 months after giving birth are at 70 percent higher risk of preterm birth than women who space their babies from 12 to 23 months.

The expert noted that most women today plan their pregnancies and usually leave at least two years between, but there are some women who find themselves pregnant again sooner than they expected either accidentally, by choosing to avoid contraception or religious reasons. However, this is something she doesn’t recommend.

“Women, like Meghan, approaching 40, might feel pressured to leave closer gaps between babies. That’s understandable as pregnancy over the age of 40 is can be considered high risk,” she said about Markle.

“However, I would still not recommend or advocate leaving a gap of less than 12 months between babies.”

According to Fowles-Gutierrez, both the mother and the baby need time and recuperation after the birth and less than 12 months between pregnancies is harldy enough for the mother and baby to bond. Aside from the physical impact, mental health should also be considered when planning to have another child.

“I would also worry about the impact on maternal mental health with surges of pregnancy and postnatal hormones so close together,” she continued.

“My recommendation would be to wait wherever possible for a minimum of 18 to 24 months between pregnancies.”

Katie Nicholl said earlier that Prince Harry and Markle wanted to have a big family. The couple is sure that they want siblings for their son, but at present, their focus is Archie.

Meanwhile, betting odds suggest that Prince Harry and Markle might make a baby announcement in 2020. The odds of the couple announcing their second pregnancy this year is at 8/1, 2/1 for 2021 and 5/1 for 2022.
