Meghan Markle has opened up about getting advice from a "very, very influential and inspiring" woman ahead of getting married to Prince Harry in 2018.

The 41-year-old Duchess of Sussex recalled the woman told her not to give up her activism, because it means a lot for women and girls.

"She said to me, 'I know that your life is changing, but please don't give up your activism. Don't give up because it means so much to women and girls,'" Markle said during the "Audacity of the Activist" podcast Tuesday, without revealing the influential woman's name.

The mother of two further shared, "And I kept doing the work for women and girls because it matters, yes. But also, because she encouraged me to do so. And the collective voice of all of us telling each other that matters is perhaps the point."

"There's safety in numbers. But there's also strength in numbers."

Markle supports various charities, including the Genesis Women's Shelter & Support in Dallas, Texas.

The podcast's episode -- hosted by actresses Jameela Jamil and Shohreh Aghdashloo -- also discussed toxic diet culture and young women's projection on social media.

"Stop selling diet, products to kids, under the age of 18, we worked with members of government about trying to find ways to legislate to protect children from diet culture and from diet products because they're incredibly dangerous," Jamil said.

Markle in the end of the episode said encouraging words about women who speak up.

"Our collective voice is our lifeline, women who are scared into silence remain silent," she said. "But if they know they aren't alone. If they know we are echoing their voice for the side of right, then it's no longer noise. Then what we're making together is music."

On the personal front, Markle shares two kids -- Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, 3 and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, 1 -- with the Duke of Sussex. She was previously married to film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013.

Ahead of getting married to the Prince, Markle was a regular on the TV series, "Suits" from 2011 to 2018. She also appeared in movies like "Dater's Handbook" and "Anti-Social."
