Meghan Markle is reportedly under supervision.

According to Latifa Yedroudj, a journalist for Express, the Duchess of Sussex is being supervised after she left Buckingham Palace “horrified” by issuing a statement about her father Thomas Markle Sr. in the run-up to her royal wedding to Prince Harry last year. An insider said that this is the palace’s way of monitoring Prince Harry and Markle since the duke is determined to follow her lead.

“The decision was made before his wedding when Kensington Palace began issuing daily statements about Meghan Markle's father,” an insider told Angela Levin of Daily Mail.

“Buckingham Palace was horrified. A key part of being Royal is that you don't say anything about that sort of thing. The Palace abides by its mantra, 'When in doubt, never speak out,” the source added.

Another insider added that the decision was to ensure that everything the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do is coordinated with the rest of the household, so there’s no “Independent State of Frogmore [the Sussex’s Windsor cottage].” The royal family is a “very hierarchical” organization and Prince Harry and Markle must follow this.

In the palace, it’s always the Queen first, Prince Charles, the Cambridges and then the Sussexes. As the fourth household, the couple must have to “respect the chain of command.”

Prince Harry and Markle’s new communications director Sarah Latham is obliged to follow the orders of Queen Elizabeth II’s communications secretary Donal McCabe. The new structure gives Latham an excuse to refuse Prince Harry and Markle’s requests.

The new structure “isn’t control in the sense of limitation” because Prince Harry and Markle are well-liked. However, the message for the Sussexes was “don’t let the good you do obscure that of others.”

In a recent poll by Opinium Monarchy Tracker, it was revealed that Kate Middleton and Prince William are more preferred by the people compared to Markle and Prince Harry. In fact, the Duchess of Sussex was the second least liked royal next to Camilla Parker Bowles. The result of the poll pierces Markle’s social media bubble as the Sussexes are a hit on Instagram compared to the Cambridges.
