Meghan Markle continues to rock expensive clothing despite the overspending accusations involving her.

According to Emily Hodgkin, a journalist for Express, the Duchess of Sussex’s wardrobe in New York for her baby shower costs a third of the average U.K. salary. Markle’s outfits reportedly cost $10,994.90 while the average U.K. salary is $35,535.69.

It’s not known if Markle would step out in front of the paparazzi before she flies home. If she does, Prince Harry’s wife might don another outfit that will surely increase her total wardrobe cost.

The duchess was seen after her baby shower wearing Courrèges Vintage Haute Couture Black Coat that is estimated to cost $2,201. She paired it with $375 Stuart Weitzman pumps and Le Specs cat-eye sunglasses worth $73.90. Markle also accessorized with Bar Jewellery bracelet ($358), Pippa Small diamond earrings ($645) and a Solange Azagury-Partridge ring ($800).

In addition, Markel’s stylish handbag from U.K. designer Stella McCartney costs $1,025. Her maternity jeans retailed for $248 and her Tamara Mellon calf-skin boots are worth $695. The first time Markle was spotted in New York for the baby shower her outfit already cost $4,300.

There is no doubt that the pregnant royal looks stunning in her outfits. However, not all agree that one should spend that much on a casual outing.

“That’s disgusting,” one netizen commented on the issue.

Markle has been accused of overspending due to her high expenses for her outfits. In 2018, the Duchess of Sussex spent $517,000 for new clothing which was almost six times more than her sister-in-law Kate Middleton’s. The Duchess of Cambridge only paid $87,000 for clothing expenses in the same year.

One netizen said that Markle has spent an “obscene amount of money” on outfits when no other royal, including Queen Elizabeth II, splurges that much for their wardrobe. The same netizen advised that Prince Harry’s wife should only wear expensive dresses for state banquets.

Markle seemed to not mind the criticism. Shortly after the overspending accusations, she was seen wearing a $1,900 Custom Calvin Klein dress, which was very similar to her H&M maternity dress that only cost $32.
