Though her attending holiday celebrations with them breaks with tradition, the royal family is reportedly getting very excited about spending Christmas with Prince Harry's fiancee, Meghan Markle.

Markle, whose engagement to Harry was announced in November, has been confirmed as spending the holidays with the royal family, and her presence at the festivities at Queen Elizabeth II's Sandringham estate was approved by the head monarch herself. Now, with preparations for the festivities underway, it appears the family is excited to be welcoming Markle into the fold this year.

According to a report in Us Weekly, Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing for Harry and Meghan's stay at their home, Amner Hall, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been working with nanny Maria Borrallo to bake cookies and other treats ahead of her arrival.

"It will be the first time Meghan has stayed with them," a source told the magazine. "And everyone is rather looking forward to it. It's going to be a bigger Christmas than usual."

This particular Christmas will also be a big one for the family as they not only welcome Markle, but prepare for the upcoming birth of William and Kate's third child in April 2018. The royal couple has remained quiet on whether or not they're welcoming another son or daughter,

The traditional festivities will also likely be an adjustment for Markle, as they will be the first she experiences with the royal family. The family is all expected to arrive at Sandringham during the afternoon on Christmas Eve, for tea and gift exchanges. That is expected to be followed by an elaborate black-tie dinner that evening. Christmas morning, everyone is set to enjoy a traditional breakfast, attend a mandatory church service, indulge on a large lunch, watch the Queen's annual speech, and eventually enjoy a dinner as well.

Following Christmas, Markle is reportedly bowing out of the Boxing Day festivities set for the 26th, and will remain at Amner Hall with Middleton. She and Harry are then expected to go on vacation together through the New Year.

The couple's wedding date was officially announced to be on Saturday, May 19, 2018.
