Melania Trump is allegedly planning to divorce her husband, President Donald Trump, once they are out of the White House, according to a former aide.

Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former political aide to the POTUS, shared her opinions about the first couple’s marriage in her 2018 book “Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House.” She claimed that the First Lady wants to break up with her husband, but she couldn’t do so while he is still the president.

“If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave him while he’s in office, he would find a way to punish her,” Newman wrote. “In my opinion, Melania is counting every minute until he is out of the office and she can divorce him,” she added.

According to Newman, Trump is fully aware of how Melania acquired her permanent U.S. citizenship and he would expose the method to how she acquired it and invalidate it if she were to dump him while he is still the president.

It is important to note that Newman did not provide the reason why Melania would want to divorce her husband.

Melania’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham already addressed the issue. According to her, the FLOTUS and Newman “rarely, if ever, interacted” when the latter was still in the White House.

“It’s disappointing to her that she is lashing out and retaliating in such a self-serving way, especially after all the opportunities given to her by the president,” Grisham said.

Meanwhile, Melania already spoke about her relationship with Trump in previous interviews and she was confident in their marriage. She is aware that there are lots of rumors about their marriage, so she set the record straight.

“I know my husband. We have a great relationship. We are both very independent. We know what our roles are and we are happy with them,” Melania said.

Earlier this year, Washington Examiner shared a clip of Trump and Melania’s past interview to commemorate their 15th Valentine’s Day as a married couple on Twitter. In the conversation, Melania confessed that she encouraged Trump to run for president and they discussed his political career a lot. They also shared that they are “equal” in their marriage.
