  • Some Twitter users mocked the first lady, asking her to "give back by packing" and leaving the White House

Melania Trump recently spoke about the importance of kindness and giving back during the holiday season at a charity event, but some Twitter users were not impressed with the first lady's speech.

On Saturday, Trump retweeted a post from The White House of a video of her giving a speech to the children and military families who were present at the annual Toys for Tots drive earlier this month. In the clip, she encouraged everyone to spread holiday cheer and give back to the community amid the pandemic.

"Let's all do our part to be best in these difficult times," Trump said during the event, which delivers toys to children in need. "During this holiday season and through the year I encourage everyone to think about ways you can safely give back to your community. Toys for Tots program has proven that the idea to give back is timeless and can be done at all ages."

The first lady went on to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. She also sent her prayers to those who are not able to go home and spend the holidays with their families this year and reminded them that the country is with them and is thankful for their service.

However, a number of Twitter users mocked Trump's speech, with one commenting: "Give back by packing Don’s s--t and getting out of our house."

"You can give back to the whole country by leaving the White House and never showing any of your faces again. The military won’t be helping you stay. There is no season two. The show was canceled. PS, it was Russia," another wrote.

"Seems the Trumps notion of ‘giving back’ is either giving to Russia or to their own back pockets," a third user wrote.

"I did. We are giving you back to NY ... scratch that. They don't want you. How about giving you back to FL... oops they don't want you either. Giving back is very hard this year," another added.

Others, meanwhile, had nothing but praise for Trump and sent her some love in the comments.

"SO BEAUTIFUL AND SUCH A CLASS ACT. FLUENT IN 5 LANGUAGES AND GORGEOUS. ADORE MY FLOTUS! @FLOTUS," one commented.

"Thank you for be a amazing role model. You make me happy and proud to be to America," another wrote.

"Melania, Your the Best! You are the most gracious First Lady America has ever had! Thank You!" a third netizen added.

The FLOTUS' post comes more a week after CNN reported that Trump was already packing up and preparing to leave the White House following President Donald Trump's loss to President-elect Joe Biden.

"She just wants to go home," an unnamed source "familiar with Melania Trump's state of mind" told the outlet.

Biden and his wife, Jill, will move into the White House on Jan. 20 after the inauguration.
