  • Melania Trump prioritizes Barron over politics

The first family’s move to the White House was surprisingly a downgrade for Melania Trump’s son.

President Donald Trump and Melania has one child, Barron. The first lady is a very protective mom to her only son. Barron turned 13 years old earlier this year and unlike his half-siblings including Ivanka, he is not frequently photographed.

According to Town & Country, Barron is commonly spotted traveling with his parents and boarding or disembarking Air Force One or the President’s helicopter. The publication also noted that he is very tall. However, there is one thing about Barron that might surprise many.

According to the publication, his move to the White House when his dad, Donald, became the president, was a downgrade for the teenager. Prior to moving to their current residence, the Trumps lived at the Trump Tower penthouse where Barron had a whole floor to himself. Melania referred to it as “Barron’s living room.” He was only 9 years old when Melania opened up about it.

CNNMoney reported that it costs over a million dollar per day to provide security to the POTUS when he and his family were still living in New York after the election. However, the amount to keep Melania and Barron safe while they were in Manhattan remains unknown, making their decision to stay there a controversial one.

When it comes to parenting Barron, Melania always prioritizes him. The FLOTUS decided to stay at home during Donald’s campaign to be with their son. According to Melania, Barron needed a parent and Donald was busy, so she had to stay with him.

“It’s my choice not to be there. I support my husband 100 percent, but we have a 9-year-old son together, Barron, and I'm raising him, and this is the age he needs a parent at home,” Melania told “20/20” in an interview back in 2015.

Since Barron spends most of his time with his mother, he has developed a strong Slovenian accent. Donald said that he has no problems with it and even finds it “great.”

Donald is a proud dad to Barron. In fact, in a past interview, he mentioned that Barron got a “wonderful potential.” In a recent rally, Donald also said that his youngest son could get a bigger crowd than Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
