Spice Girls' Melanie Chisholm, also known as Melanie C and Sporty Spice, joined Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to perform an acoustic rendition of "2 Become 1" at Audacy's 8th Annual "We Can Survive" concert Saturday night.

The event, which was held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, was well-received by fans of both groups. Prior to the historic performance, Martin told the crowd about his longtime dream of singing a duet with a member of the Spice Girls.

"We were thinking about what we could do to make this show extra special in 40 minutes, and we thought, 'Well, this is Hollywood, this is Los Angeles, this is where when you make a wish, it may just come true,'" Martin said before introducing Melanie to the crowd.

"One of our dreams is to be able to play a song with a Spice Girl. We've been waiting for this for 24 years. So, I don't know if it's possible, but if we all just went super quiet and just said that wish out: 'Wouldn't it be amazing if a Spice Girl just appeared out of nowhere?' Please welcome from England and Great Britain and the Spice Girls Melanie Chisholm, aka Mel C, aka Sporty Spice, aka a total legend," he said before starting their duet of "2 Become 1," which Martin described as "a sexual anthem" as per Billboard.

"2 Become 1" is a track from Spice Girls’ debut album, "Spice," which was released in 1996. The single peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, while the album climbed to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 1997.

Audacy shared a clip of the pair's performance via Twitter. In the caption, it noted, "@coldplay just brought out sporty spice @melaniecmusic #WeCanSurvive."

Meanwhile, Melanie took to her Twitter page to narrate how the duet came about.

"What a fantastic, unexpected night!" Melanie began her tweet Sunday. "I gave Chris a text to tell him we would be coming to his @imlistening @audacy #wecansurvive gig, at the @HollywoodBowl and the next thing I know, he's on FaceTime while I'm in the nail salon, asking me to come up on stage with him!"

She also shared a clip of their rehearsal backstage.

"Well, what could I say to an offer like that! Thank you @coldplay for such an amazing night and experience. Hopefully I can get back to @HollywoodBowl soon with three certain ladies for company!" Melanie added.

During the concert, Coldplay also performed alongside Doja Cat, Maroon 5, Saweetie, Shawn Mendes, Black Eyed Peas, Saweetie and The Kid Laroi.

According to Audacy, a portion of the proceeds from the show will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
