The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry takes on added importance in 2018, as both schools have just one loss on the season. Ohio State hosts Michigan on Saturday with the Buckeyes ranked No. 10 and the Wolverines ranked No. 4 and with a spot in the Big Ten Championship game at stake.

For the first time since 2004, Michigan enters the matchup as the favorite. As of Friday night, Michigan, who has lost 13 of the last 14 meetings, is favored by 4.5 points with the over/under at 54 points.

Michigan's defense has been a big reason for the team's success, as it ranks No. 1 nationally in fewest yards allowed. The Wolverines have held all but one opponent below 22 points.

Jim Harbaugh's squad lost the first game of the season to current No. 3 Notre Dame in South Bend, 24-17, but haven't looked back since. Michigan has won 10 consecutive games and only Northwestern was able to keep the game within one score.

The Buckeyes will be looking for an improved performance from their defense. Ohio State conceded 535 total yards to Maryland on Saturday. The Buckeyes' lone loss came on the road on Oct. 21 when they failed to contain Purdue — allowing 539 total yards in a 49-20 defeat.

Two players to watch for are Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and Michigan running back Karan Higdon. Haskins has thrown for 3,685 yards and 36 touchdowns, while Higdon has rushed for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Both sides have firmly stated the importance of the game.

"I know both universities have the respect factor," Meyer said. "I didn’t say 'like,' but there is respect."

"To us this is as big as it gets," Harbaugh said. "It’s the most important thing in our football lives."
